Chronic fatigue syndrome is a disease without a definite cause, which is characterized by fatigue, weakness, muscle pain fever etc. Following are some of the symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome -
* Long time fatigue (6 months or more) even though you are not working too hard.
* Inability to perform tasks, or slow pace while doing work.
* Painful lymph nodes in the armpits and neck

Thus these are basically the symptoms that can be attributed to chronic fatigue syndrome.

The causes of chronic fatigue syndrome are not exactly known but according to predictions and guesses it can be caused due to a dysfunctional immune system. It may also be due to some sort of virus, which has not been detected as yet. There has been a lot of research going on, to find out the root cause of the disease but no concrete treatment has been found as yet. Following are some of the steps that you can take to treat chronic fatigue syndrome -
* First thing to do is check if there is a medical cause for the disease, if so then your doctor may review the situation and take action by performing certain lab tests
* Problems such as muscle pain, headache and depression can be treated with medicine, but there are certain symptoms, which cannot be treated, only reduced!
* Counseling can help to an extent, and you may also keep a pleasant atmosphere at home, interacting with friends and taking all the possible emotional support. It is also recommended that you freely express your feelings and not get into tiffs and problems.
* Try and adjust your life by planning your activities, in terms of your social, physical and emotional life, by trying to cope with the situation, rather than trying to fight it.
* Exercise is known to help tremendously in a fatigue syndrome situation. Get an exercise planned from your doctor and maintain it for as long as you want.
